It’s Thursday again, and that means more One Room Challenge! It’s hard to believe this thing is more than halfway over. I have mixed feelings about reaching this point. On the one hand, I’m really excited to have a finished *for now* master bedroom, but on the other, I feel like I have a lot of work ahead of me! Fixing one problem reveals 5 more, and it’s realllllly hard not to add to my to-do list/expenses… I know it’s not worth dwelling on the things I can’t change (like the not-white-walls and awful carpet), but after looking over my photos this week I was tempted to just go for it, and risk losing a 3-months rent deposit. Tempted, but this is our first lease in the UK, from a landlord we don’t have direct contact with, so common sense ruled over clean fresh walls. But still, I have been making progress, and now I can cross one of the things off the list I shared last week:
- Sort out the curtain situation
- Install sconces/lighting
- Update bedding/pillows
- Style EVERYTHING
Ah, that feels good. 🙂
This week was especially fun, because I got to buy stuff! I’ve had these lights from Vendimia Lighting Co in my Amazon UK shopping basket for forever.

I finally bought two of them to hang over the nightstands, and I already want to buy more for every room in the house!

I used EKBY shelf brackets from IKEA to mount them to the wall.
I really love how warm the light is! It was actually snowing the day I took these photos (the 27th of April!), which made it pretty dark all day. The lack of natural light was a bummer for the photos, but the lights made the room feel so cosy.I also found a new light shade by happy accident at a bargain shop – only £7.99!
Here’s what was there before.

Thankfully, things are looking much better in here now! Although, I am desperate to replace what’s in the frame for something that would make more of a statement.I also snagged this copper basket from the shop where I found the light shade.
Well that’s it for me. Be sure to check out what the other ORC participants are up to over at Calling It Home.

What a creative and clever lighting solution!
I love the soft glow.
Thank you for joining us at TOHOT!

Those lights are so cool and they are adjustable. Right? You could pull them closer when you are reading if you need to. Love the artwork above the bed.
We sure like having you join us at Thoughts of Home. Keep up your great work!
Thanks Stacey! Yes, they can be adjusted pretty easily, and also switched off from bed. Really like not having to get up to turn off the lights. It’s the little things 🙂
I love this idea, so cute and modern. makes in big statement in your room.
Your space is really coming along! I am a bit late to the TOHOT party this week due to my college semester finals but I’m so glad that I didn’t miss this. Have a wonderful week.
I remember college finals all too well (just finished my degree last November). Best of luck with your studies, and thanks for stopping by!
