The Plan – ORC Week 3

week 1  //  week 2

It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge, and I’m in Portugal! But don’t worry, I still have an update for you. (Am I good or what?) This week I’m *finally* purchasing furniture for the patio. Here’s the look I’m going for:

ORC InspirationSources: pillows 1, 2, 3  –  hanging planters  –  chair  –  chiminea  –  bench  –  planter  –  coffee table  –  cushions

I came up with this mood board a few weeks ago. I’m not sticking to it completely, but the key items like the bench, chiminea, and coffee table will be included. I already have the coffee table that I stained with tea, but I still need to reseal it with another layer of wax. I’m getting that same bench, but swapping the chiminea for this one. I’m definitely the most excited about getting a chiminea. I can’t wait to have s’mores nights, and I know the extra warmth will help us enjoy the cool summer evenings more.

Since we are renting, and the weather is really only nice 3 months out of the year, I know it’s not wise to invest too much money in this space. I’m also keeping in mind that everything will need to be stored inside through autumn, winter, and spring. For that reason, I’m probably not getting the chair -even though I WANT it! I’ll also be using things I already have lying around the house to accessorise with.

In other news, I’m adding another project to the list. Rather than use the rectangular planters for the herbs, I’m planning on hanging them along the fence like this:

Project List:

  • Restore artificial grass
  • Finalise design plan
  • Purchase furniture & accessories
  • Hang herb wall
  • Decide what to do with old planters
  • Clean up flower beds

I’m keeping it short and sweet this week since I’m on holiday. Let me just say Portugal is AMAZING, and I’ll be posting about it soon!
