Week 1 // Week 2 // Week 3 // Week 4 // Week 5
One Room Challenge reveal time is finally here! Over the past six weeks, I’ve been making some improvements in my master bedroom. The changes I made weren’t as drastic as I might have wanted, but still the end result was definitely worth the time and effort. I’m so pleased with how the room turned out!
But before I get into it, let’s remember how this room started, shall we?Yikes, hello brown carpet. Here’s how it looked on the day we moved in.
And that’s how it looked at week 1.
Since this is only a rental property (and I live in the UK where there are a lot of rules – lol!), I had to leave the walls and carpet as they are. Despite these limitations, and a tight budget, I was able to turn this tiny room into a cozy, functional space.
Alright, alright. Enough of that. Here’s how it looks now. 🙂The curtain situation was a tricky one because the plaster walls crumbled when we drilled into them (hence the white patch – will be painting over that soon!). In the end I decided to be controversial and mount the brackets to the inside of the window frame. I know, I’m breaking the golden rule of curtain-hanging, but I’ve managed to forgive myself because it’s such a HUGE improvement over how they were before.
Here are the DIY pillows I shared about last week. They were a lot of fun to make, and turned out pretty good. 🙂
These nightstands are another DIY that I made for this project.
Thanks for all the love and support over the last six weeks! So many talented people participated in the ORC this spring, and so impressed by work they’ve done. Check out all the other amazing reveals at Calling It Home here.

It’s so cozy and lovely! Love the simplicity — it’s relaxing! I am always a sucker for an Edison bulb!! xx
Thank you! I know, sometimes I wish I could swap out all my lights for Edison bulbs!
You created the perfect little retreat! Thank you for sharing this process at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. It has surely been fun to watch from week to week.
Thanks for following along! It’s been so motivating to work alongside other great bloggers 🙂
I love the simple and relaxed feel of your space, uncluttered yet still so chic! Congrats and CHEERS to us for another room done!
Thank you! 🙂
Love those lights, and the whole room is really cute! I’m in the UK too & also renting (expat of sorts as well) – I feel like it’s way harder to find cute decor here than in the States (I miss Target!!) but you’ve done a great job!
Thank you! Good to hear from another American this side of the pond 🙂 I miss Target so much! And Amazon UK doesn’t have as much to offer either…
Such a wonderful improvement. I love all the sweet touches that make it uniquely your own. Thank you so much for linking up to Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You make our gathering a happier place.
Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us at TOHOT.
Your inspiration and talents bring joy to us all!

Love the lights you created for the side of the bed. Great job!
Such a beautiful bedroom. It’s always hard to figure out how to make things work in a rental space, but I think you did a wonderful job.
Thank you Erin! 🙂
Looking good! The headboard and your lights look fabulous together.
